Overview
When Summer Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayak came to us looking for a new website and booking system, we knew they needed something user-friendly, easily searchable and fun, which also reflected their conscientious approach to active tourism. Summer SUP and Kayak is a responsible and eco-friendly tourism provider bringing paddle boarding and kayaking to a wide audience on the west coast of Ireland. As part of Fáilte Ireland’s Digital That Delivers programme which supports online growth, Summer SUP knew that an easy to use booking system was something they needed as part of a new vibrant website, so Open set about giving them just that.
The Solutions
Summer Sup runs its paddleboard and kayak business from a few locations, so we gave them a website which maximises their dual location. Website users can pick West Cork or West Mayo as soon as they visit the site, making it simple to pick the activity in the area they want. When you go to either Cork or Mayo on the website, not only do you get the information you need, but you also get information on other attractions, making the website a local tourism online hub.
The Summer SUP website has a focus on user experience; easy to navigate, clear indication of each area and each activity information available at a glance. Using distinct geographical areas for booking also offers visitors a simplified user journey through the site. The booking area uses vibrant images for each activity, so users can choose easily. The process itself has few steps, making it swift and simple to book.
We chose fun and engaging imagery for the Summer Sup website. With a focus on activity and environment, we’ve lots of images of people enjoying the paddle board and kayak experience. The website is also packed with visitor information and everything you need to know before booking, all in tandem with an emphasis on protecting the environment as a visitor. Summer Sup wanted a website with a look and feel that reflected their ethos and a booking system which was hassle-free for visitors. Open delivered on both, giving the West Cork and Mayo business a new website that’d help place them firmly in the minds of visitors to the west coast of Ireland.
